Chapter title: THE LIFE OF THE HOLY FAMILY

Let us meditate upon the life of the Holy Family, the life of Mary and of Joseph in Jesus.

Jesus was the center of Mary's and Joseph's love.... "Where thy treasure is, there is thy heart." ...

In the same way, my house, my family, my center is the Eucharist, the Tabernacle near which I dwell. Like Mary and Joseph should feel at home only there.

Jesus was the end of Mary's and Joseph's existence; they lived only for Him; they labored for Him alone....

And for us, too, Jesus Eucharistic should be the Object of our life, our joy- the inspiration of our work. What life could be more beautiful than that which is passed in the company of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament!

Jesus was the constant nourishment of Mary's and Joseph's life of union and love. ...

...They beheld Him incessantly seeking after and selecting, by preference, occasions of poverty, obedience and penance. They contemplated his humility and self-annihilation, while they admired His fidelity in referring all to the glory of His father, never desiring, like mankind, to be the object of any praise, and glory.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph had but one aim in life, they wished but for one thing, the honor and glory of the Heavenly Father.

This should be my ambition; but in order to accomplish this, I must unite myself with Mary and Jesus. I must share their life, their family life, that intimate life of which God alone holds the secret.

O how happy is the soul in contemplating the hidden life of the Holy Family, all that is said and done therein-the Gospel of the family of Jesus!...He reveals Calvary to them, tells them of all the humiliation and suffering which He has to pass. He shows them in His hands the places where the nails are to be driven; and this in order that Calvary may even now begin to bear fruit in the soul of His Mother and His holy guardian. He speaks to them of the church, of the Apostles, of the Religious Orders which will consecrate themselves to his and to their, honor. He speaks to them of us, our our miseries, and of the immense love that He bears us.

Nazareth has become a heaven of love, the paradise of the second Adam and the new Eve; a heaven of the purest virtues, of the holiest love. What a delicious perfume ascended to the Lord from that delectable garden in which blossomed the Incarnate Word, Mary, and Joseph the Just! The Heavenly Father found therein His delight; the angelic spirits looked upon it in admiration. As for me, I desire to gleam from it love for a pious and recollected life in Jesus, Mary and Joseph.

Practice-Let us always conduct ourselves with ceremonial respect when in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament

Aspiration-O Mary, thou who so perfectly served Jesus Eucharistic, vouchsafe to be our instructress in this divine art.


MEDITATION

We are, believe it or not, entering into the halfway point of our consecration preparation to Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament. Our first consecration vow should be our dedication to the Liturgy, the reception of Holy Communion and the living Word of God. This devotion to consecrate oneself to this specific title of Our Lady should incessantly expend our desire to be born of Mary into the Incarnate life of God. We embody the life of Jesus in our very own being when we Receive Him in a state of grace. This should inspire a longing in our hearts to serve, like St. Peter Julian recommends to us, "He (Jesus) reveals Calvary to them,(Mary and Joseph) tells them of all the humiliation and suffering through which He has to pass. He shows them in His hands the places where the nails are to be driven; and this in order that Calvary may even now begin to bear fruit in the soul of His Mother and His holy guardian. He speaks to them of the church, of the Apostles, of the Religious Orders which will consecrate themselves to His and to their, honor. He speaks to them of us, our miseries, and of the immense love that He bears us."

What return of Love can we possibly offer in the short time we have upon this earth to our God! The penances we give reclaim what we have lost by sin. Those who give back must be the chosen ones who have said yes in hope of the resurrection. "You have not chosen me: but I have chosen you; and have appointed you, that you should go, and should bring forth fruit; and your fruit should remain: that whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you." (John 15:16) Mary's faithful children will allow the Holy Spirit to inspire a return for the love that has been poured out. We can place many rules upon ourselves even in our spiritual lives as an offering. If we pray for the union of Divine Love when we are before our Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, what we are called to give will flow from the natural response of the Fathers love for us. The spirit of the Fear of the Lord will be upon us. We will love more and more and be less inclined to hurt Our Father who loves us so much.

Pray for the grace to choose the heavier crosses, to choose the things that would be less attractive to us and more pleasing to God. This will offer us simple ways in our days to find love. We need not go very far. We can all soul search to see things right before us that may make a difference in the life of another. The conclusion of the thirteenth day chapter is an invitation to cling to St. Joseph and St. John. These two men of Divine Grace were given to Mary, and she offers them back to us as intercessors of immense love, fidelity and heritage. The Holy Family was modeled to us by St. Joseph and the new covenant of God's Love, offered to us without end at the last supper, was recognized first by the Beloved Disciple. St. Joseph's life of Divine union with the Heavenly Father and St. John martyred lover of the Holy Eucharist continue to guide us to the Heart of Christ Jesus!


SEND

Make a perpetual promise to recite a spiritual communion prayer if you cannot get to daily Mass, the faith you place into the prayer is the grace you will receive from it. Continue to journal and prepare for a good and humble confession. Try to find time to spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
