Week 3 theme: "MARY! TEACH US THE LAW OF LOVE!" READING -TWENTIETH DAY- Consecration to Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament St. Peter Julian Eymard, Library Vol. 7 Pages 114-117 (Or pages 117-120 on the online book. You can find the link here:) http://archive.org/stream/monthofourladyof00eymauoft#page/117/mode/1up St Peter Julian Eymard's words: Chapter title: MARY'S ADORATION OF FAITH AND RESPECT How much might be said of Mary's life of adoration in the Cenacle!... Mary was wholly employed in adoring and honoring Him in His Eucharistic life. ... ...she prostrated herself with profound respect and devotion, then composed her senses in a simple act of recollection. She kept her body erect, her hands joined or crossed on her breast or, when alone, frequently raised in supplication towards the Tabernacle, on which her eyes were constantly fixed. Mary adored with the most submissive faith. ...She adored that Heart so inflamed with love,... Mary would have wished to annihilate herself completely before the Divine Majesty annihilated in the Sacrament, that by so doing she might render Him due homage and love. Mary's adoration was profound, interior, and intimate. It was the gift of herself. She offered herself wholly to the service of loving God in the Eucharist; for love knows no reservation, lays down no conditions; it thinks no more of self, lives no longer for self; it is a stranger to itself, it lives only for the God whom it loves. All in Mary turned toward the Blessed Sacrament as toward it's center and end. A current of grace and love was established between the Adorable Heart of Jesus Hostia and the adoring heart of Mary; they were two flames that burned as one. God was perfectly adored in his creature! With the example of Mary before him, let the adorer kneel before the Blessed Sacrament with the most profound respect;... Under the Eucharistic veils that hide the Sacred Humanity, let us adore Jesus with Mary's faith and with that of Holy Church-those two Mothers that the Savior has, in His love, given us. Let us adore our God as though we saw Him, heard Him; for an earnest faith sees, hears and touches with more certitude than the senses themselves. Practice- Let us, in union with Mary, accompany the Blessed Sacrament when It is taken to the sick. Aspiration-O Queen of Goodness, we contemplate thee at the side of Jesus Eucharistic, the King of kings! MEDITATION We need not cross the forest alone! "And they told what things were done on the way; and how they knew him in the breaking of the bread." (Luke 24:35) Those walking the road to Emmaus must have been in a great state of confusion, walking the forest, wondering, trying to figure out in their minds all that they heard about. They listened on the way, they pondered, they thought... How their hearts must have burned with peace when they recognized Jesus in the breaking of the Bread! St. Peter Julian tells us "an earnest faith sees, hears and touches with more certitude than the senses themselves." We who believe will find rest for our souls, a comfort, a peace in finding Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Our hearts too will burn with peace. Those on the way continued to wonder, yet their confusion was made clear that God was with them, His presence was before them. We follow Mary through the forest of our lives onto the path that will lead us to become fully employed in honoring Jesus in His Eucharistic life. The Holy Angels simply adore, like Mary, the Queen of Angels. This is why Mary is the Queen of Goodness (St. Peter Julian). "All in Mary turned toward the Blessed Sacrament as toward its center and end. A current of grace and love was established between the Adorable Heart of Jesus Hostia and the adoring heart of Mary; they were two flames that burned as one. God was perfectly adored in his creature!" St. Peter Julian sets before us imagery to catch with our eyes to set in our hearts. A current of grace can and will be established for us too from the Heart of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Our hearts entering into the union of these two hearts, Jesus and Mary; we have a limitless life of grace to long for. We turn all to these two hearts allowing the same current of grace to work through our lives. Mary teaching us this law of love will help us find God in loosing ourselves so the life of The Heavenly Father can be fulfilled in us. Mary leaves us an example of how to adore, with profound respect and devotion. This does not come from a set rule, it comes from our acknowledgement of His love. The return of this love will come from an indwelling of the Holy Spirit in our souls that will lead us to prostrate ourselves before our King! The Prostration is the union of your heart to the Divine Heart where the two will become one and a current of Grace will unfold. "Let us, in union with Mary, accompany the Blessed Sacrament when It is taken to the sick." (St Peter Julian) The chapter concludes with this practice to care for the sick. We can simply say, "Lord, hear our prayer." Yet there may be a vast opening of grace offered to us here. "Is any man sick among you? Let him bring in the priests of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord." (James 5:14) There are many sick among us. First, our own hearts, in need of constant nourishment that can only be consoled by the heart of Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. Once we can give Who we have we can offer healing by our prayers to all those suffering in heart, mind, body and soul. The work will be endless and fall into eternity. "God will be perfectly adored in his creatures." (St Peter Julian) We will perfectly adore when we care for others. Mary will guide us to pray for those in need. God will be perfectly adored when we become more like His Son who lived and died for us. We will, like Mary, become true adorers, finding Him through our lives, making Him its center, carrying out His work. The vision will be clear that we are heading toward Him.
