By: Laura Worhacz Some days later it is the Magi who bring their tribute of adoration and their royal gifts. Mary offers her Babe to their homage and the willing offerings they made to her Jesus. O how often may we not share in the happiness of the Magi! How happy is the loving soul when it has found Jesus with Mary, His Mother! They who know the Tabernacle where He dwells, they who receive Him into their souls, know that His conversation is full of divine sweetness, His consolation ravishing, His peace superabundant, and the familiarity of His love and His heart ineffable. To find Jesus in the arms of His Mother, to unite oneself to Mary’s sentiments as she presses Him to her heart --- St. Peter Julian Eymard (Eymard Library Vol. 7, page 69-70) Dearest Eucharistic Family, The above excerpt sets so much imagery before us, Our Lady holding Jesus, the Magi finding the child, Mary offering her Son to those who seek Him. Mary’s sentiments are for others from the Incarnation, birth and throughout the life of Jesus. Mary was so secured in her Father’s love that the return of love was indwelling and ready to be poured out in abundance. My cousin’s little baby celebrated part of the Christmas season with us. It was at a large gathering at my home that the little one was passed around. She went from arm to arm, where she was cuddled and cooed. Her eyes were brightly shining like stars trying to absorb all the excitement. Surely the little one could not understand, yet she trusted in all who were offering her their fondness. So it is with our Father in Heaven. He has us in His loving embrace, cradled in His tenderness. Affixed with certainty, Mary allowed herself to be cradled in God’s love. This is where she found full confidence to offer Jesus to the world. Bethlehem of Judea lives in the heart of the believer, in the heart of those who follow the stars of hope for eternal love. The illuminating gift of the Eucharist is discovered in the gift our ourselves to others. The Mother of God is our example of a life offered, a treasured gift found in God through Jesus, the divine life given to the wise who seek the Holy one of Israel, Jesus. Remembering our Consecration Promise we pray: Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Blessed are you, Mary exalted daughter of Sion! You are highly favoured and full of grace, for the spirit of God descended upon you. We magnify the Lord and rejoice with you for the gift of the Word made flesh, bread of life and cup of joy. Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, our model of prayer in the cenacle, pray for us that we may become what we receive, the body of Christ your son. Amen.
