Preparation Week - Day 2

Preparation week theme: Empty thyself

St. Peter Julian Eymard's words:

"We are obliged to, in order to continue in the grace of our vocation and participate fully in it, to give very special honor to the Blessed Virgin under the title of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament...
Without Mary, we shall never find Jesus, for she possesses Him in her heart...We must never separate Jesus from Mary; we can go to Him only through her...Our Lord owes everything through her in the order of His Incarnation."    Vol. 7, Eymard Library, page 2

Meditation:

These are strong statements of truth for those who believe! For those who do not understand the gift or our Blessed Mother, let us pray that the fullness of the Holy Spirit may be upon them. God sent His Son by way of Mary very significantly and specifically. The human family in the natural order of life needs a mother. Life is better with a mother. The comfort, the guidance, the gifts that come from a mother are without end.

At the foot of the cross our Lord gave us Mary, He said, "Behold thy mother" (John 19:27). We have a spiritual mother who brings us to the Son of God. There is no separation between the two. St. Peter Julian tells us, the Incarnation makes Jesus and Mary one. Mary received Jesus in her womb; she bore Him into the world through the fullness of the Holy Spirit, the Promise of the Father. She was made one by receiving the Body of Christ in her being. We receive them both by our own reception of Holy Communion. Through Jesus in the Holy Trinity and Mary as the first entry into the Body, we are all part of the Mystical Body of Christ. The Father could have sent Jesus down from above in many ways, yet He knew our human needs and fulfilled them through the gift of motherhood.

Without time and effort, a relationship remains unnourished; we are blessed to renew our thanks for having a Mother through the Eucharist. Our human frailty is greatly restored by the reception of Holy Communion, for it is by the Incarnation of Christ living in and through our own lives in the womb of Mary that we are renewed.

Please recite the Veni Creator:

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (make the sign of the Cross.)
We offer this prayer to you O Lord with the specific intention to empty thyself.

Veni Creator

COME, O Creator Spirit blest,
And in our souls take up Thy rest,
Come with Thy grace and Heavenly aid,
To fill the hearts which Thou hast made.

Great Paraclete! To Thee we cry,
O highest gift of God most high!
O fount of life! O fire of love!
And sweet anointing from above.

Thou in Thy sevenfold gifts art known,
The finger of God's hand we own;
The promise of the Father, Thou!
Who dost the tongue with power endow.

Kindle our senses from above,
And make our hearts over flow with love;
With patience firm and virtues high,
The weakness of our flesh supply.

Far from us drive the foe we dread,
And grant us Thy true peace instead;
So shall we not, with Thee for guide,
Turn from the path of life aside.

And, may Thy grace on us bestow
The Father and the Son to know,
And Thee through endless times confessed
Of both the Eternal Spirit blest.

All glory while the ages run
Be to the Father and the Son
Who rose from death; the same to Thee,
O Holy Spirit, eternally. Amen.

Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament, pray for us.
Laura
